I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, the birthplace of Hip-Hop. In the 80s, when the emergence of this particular music genre took my city by storm, equally as vivid in my memory is the manner in which drugs and related crimes swept in like a tidal wave. With the amount of pain and devastation surrounding me, it was then I became acutely aware that I was an empath or someone who felt the thoughts, emotions, and energy of others.
At various junctures in my own life, I experienced life challenges too. For example, I found myself pregnant at the age of 21. For many it might have appeared as though I hit rock bottom, for me, I viewed it as an opportunity to reassess where I sought to go. After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and a Master’s degree in Social Work, I've worked in family shelters, schools, non-profit and state agencies. Many of the strategies I used to improve my life have proved to be useful for the clients I have served, particularly women.
As a Psychotherapist, Coach, Trainer and Consultant, my purpose over the last 20 years has remained the same: partner with my clients to identify their “Imara”.
My path to where I am today has been anything but linear. Perhaps you can relate. Whatever challenges you are facing, you don’t have to continue the journey alone. I can meet you where you’re at, and together we can reach the next destination of your choice.
